For HVAC Repair, Installation & Maintenance
Probably the second most common question we get in the field of HVAC. Your HVAC system should be serviced before the start of both heating and cooling season (2 times per year). We inspect your Air-Conditioner in the spring to make sure it’s ready to cool your home and inspect your heat pump or furnace at the end of summer or early fall. Proper maintenance of your HVAC system is the key to prolonging the life of the unit.
This is the most frequently asked question we are asked by home-owners. Your air filters should be replaced every 1 to 3 months, depending on the type of filter you have and how often your system runs. Replacing your air filter will improve the air quality in your home as well as keep the unit running efficiently as possible. A dirty air filter is a common cause for premature failure of your furnace and it’s motor.
This can be a difficult question for many home-owners. The average life span of an HVAC is around 13-15 years. This can be dependent upon a number of factors, one of them being how well the unit was maintained and service over the years. Older systems that are inefficient; use expensive phase out refrigerant; or costly part components should be considered for an upgrade. Our staff will walk you through the pros and cons of both so that you make the right choice for your home.
Installing a programmable thermostat puts you in control of your home’s temperature throughout the day. A programmable thermostat lets you adjust the temperatures you desire for certain times (morning, midday, evening). Programmable thermostats can often help lower your utility bills and allow your system to be used more efficiently.
A ductless mini-split system or an alternative way to heat and cool your living space compared to your normal conventional ducted units you may find in homes. These systems work similarly to conventional units except they do not require any ductwork. These systems have an outdoor unit and an indoor wall head or floor mount unit that is connected by a refrigerant line. Ductless systems allow you to heat and cool each space individually based on preference. Most are controlled via remote control.
A frozen Air Conditioner can be due to a number of reasons. Your unit may have low air flow that is caused by either a dirty filter, worn out motor, or a dirty blower wheel. It may also be caused by low refrigerant levels or other issues. In either case, we recommended turning the unit off and allowing it to thaw out. When you call our offices, a trained technician can be dispatched to determine the issue and get your system up and running again.
